Compress PDF files right in your browser to shrink a large PDF for email or upload — nothing is ever sent to a server, so your document stays private on your device. Once the page has loaded it works offline, and it's free with no sign-up.

How to compress a PDF

  1. Add your PDF. Drop a single PDF onto the dropzone or click to choose one from your device.
  2. Drag the quality slider. Move the slider between smaller-file and better-quality — a live estimated size and percentage saved update as you drag.
  3. Compress and download. Click Compress PDF to re-render every page at your chosen setting, then the smaller file downloads automatically as "yourfile-compressed.pdf".

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded or kept private?

Your PDF is never uploaded. Every page is rendered and re-compressed entirely in your browser on your own device, so the file never leaves your computer or phone.

Is it free and do I need an account?

Yes, it's completely free with no sign-up or account required. Just open the page and start compressing.

Will the text still be selectable after compressing?

No. To shrink the size, each page is re-rendered as a JPEG image, so text and links become part of the picture and are no longer selectable or searchable. Always keep your original file.

How much will my file shrink?

It depends on the slider setting and the content — the tool shows a live estimated size and a percentage saved before you commit, so you can pick any balance of size versus quality you like.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser, and the compressed PDF downloads straight to your device.

Can I compress more than one PDF at once?

You compress one PDF at a time. To do several, just use Choose another after each download to load the next file.
